According to the provisions of the law, reservists are citizens who perform their military service duties in the active or reserve units of the National Liberation Army of China (PLA). The personnel consists of soldiers and reserve officers. The junior staff is divided into sergeants and soldiers.
Reservists are part of the national armed forces and are an important source of additional troops for active military service in wartime.
The reserve will be formed from among retired military personnel who meet the conditions of service in the reserve, as well as from among professional and technical personnel.
Observers believe that the passage of the law could be one more step before a possible invasion of Taiwan.
