The wife of Charles III is still called the “Queen Consort”, but will soon receive an updated title.
75-year-old Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles will receive a new title. The New York Post writes about it.
Charles III reportedly begged his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, to name his wife Camilla queen rather than “queen consort”. Therefore, there was information that the beloved of the British monarch will get rid of the prefix “consort”.
Christopher Anderson, author of The King: The Life of Charles III, claimed that the eldest son of Elizabeth II “for 17 years relentlessly begged the late Queen, imploring her to support Camilla as a queen, and not just as a consort.”
“At the end of her life, the queen did just that, as I was told, rather reluctantly, and it was a shock for the sons of Diana,” said the royal expert.

Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, and just months before her death, she expressed her “sincere wish” that her son’s wife be known as Queen Consort.
On February 25, 2023, it was reported that “well-informed sources” at Buckingham Palace said that Camilla would be styled “Queen” upon the coronation of Charles III on May 6 of that year.
The author further noted that the title of “Queen Consort” did not exist in the past.
“The king’s wife, of course, is his wife, but she is also just a queen,” the specialist added.
