State Duma deputies, according to journalists, demanded that Rosfinmonitoring find out if the money from the rental of “Matchmakers” and “Servant of the People” is going to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation demanded to check the online cinemas that show the Ukrainian series “Matchmakers” and “Servant of the People”. This was reported on Tuesday, February 28, by the Russian media Mash.
For example, Deputy Dmitry Gusev suspected that the proceeds from the rental of projects by Kvartal-95 Studios could be used to sponsor the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the “Ukrainian regime” through taxes and voluntary donations.
Russian parliamentarians appealed to Rosfinmonitoring and the Internet Video Association with a demand to check online cinemas for compliance with Russian legislation.
According to Russian journalists, if the suspicions of the deputies are confirmed, then the serials could allegedly be withdrawn from the box office.
Recall, on February 19, the Polsat TV channel reported that an adaptation of the Ukrainian TV series “Servant of the People” will be released in Poland on March 4. In it, as in the original version, they will tell about a history teacher who suddenly becomes the president of the country.
In June last year, it was reported that the star of the series “Matchmakers”, Russian actor Fyodor Dobronravov, came to a military hospital in Samara to visit the military personnel of the RF Armed Forces.
We also recall that in March 2022, Netflix returned the Ukrainian series Servant of the People to its platform. In September 2016, Netflix bought the rights to show the series.
