The rule will apply for all motorcycles and scooters in the capital from 2022, with the exception of electric models.
From 2022, things will change for the many owners and users of motorcycles and thermal scooters in Paris. Indeed, the parking of two-wheelers will become paying in the capital!
Paid parking for motorcycles and thermal scooters
The measure, which was formalized this week by David Belliard (Europe Ecologie-Les Verts, EELV), deputy mayor Anne Hidalgo (Socialist Party, PS), is not a surprise, however.
The latter recalled that it is a ” campaign engagement »From the mayor of the capital. As a reminder, David Belliard is in charge of the transformation of public space, transport, mobility, the street code and roads. On his Twitter account, he indicated that “scooters and thermal motorcycles will have to pay a payment for parking”.
In concrete terms, motorized two-wheelers will be able to continue to park in spaces dedicated to cars. The future tariffs, which will not apply to electric two-wheelers, will be equivalent to 50% of those charged for cars, announced the elected official.
The phome care professionals and electric two-wheelers spared
To push the market towards greener mobility, the measure will not apply to electric two-wheelers. These latter will continue to benefit from free parking. But it should be remembered that the latter are still very much in the minority on the two-wheeler market.
An exception will be granted to home care professionals rolling in thermal two-wheelers : “Health personnel providing home care obviously retain their right to free parking”, says David Belliard.
The other professionals will also benefit from a specific price: « The advantageous parking rates for professionals remain effective and will henceforth concern artisans and traders in the outer suburbs! “ adds the chosen one.
