Difficult to buy one of the micro-city cars of the Volkswagen group! Renewed in 2019 with a successful switch to electric, the triplet of the German group was however stopped in its tracks. After a temporary shutdown of the chains, Seat has finally decided to put a definitive end to the production of its mini-city car, from June 18.

Premature end of career despite a great success
At Seat, the Mii became the brand’s first 100% electric model in 2019, even before the arrival of the Cupra Born. Its price, more attractive than that of the Volkswagen up !, enabled it to meet a nice commercial success, even if on paper there were three times fewer Spanish models sold (4 824 copies between January and September 2020) than Germans (13,231 copies).
Contacted, Seat confirms the cessation of production this month at the Slovak plant in Bratislava. The marketing of the Mii therefore stops in all markets. But the micro-city car remains available from stock in dealerships. The choice of A segment vehicles, which is not very profitable according to the manufacturers, is further reduced. In the case of Seat, this means that the brand no longer has any 100% electric model.

A renewal scheduled for 2025
The electric city car will not be renewed until 2025, the year of the arrival of a new generation of small electric models in the Volkswagen group. At VW, it will be called ID.1. Skoda and Seat have confirmed that they will also offer this new model, which is based on the MEB Entry platform. But the two bosses did not say more about these future generations. The production location, possibly in the Spanish plant in Martorell near Barcelona, should be confirmed in the coming months.
