In his charming village of Loir-et-Cher, Jeff appreciates the space he has. And not just so that her little boy can play in a large garden. This is because the young catering manager in an Ehpad is a fan of mechanics. And if his collector’s vehicles, a Corvette C5 and a Ford Mustang are housed in a separate garage, his everyday motorcycles and cars must find their place at home. He found his Audi A6 Avant there, but also a petrol Nissan Juke 190hp that he bought for his wife in 2017 and that he gladly stole from her. The small SUV dates from 2015, and he was able to acquire it for only 8,500 euros from a private individual. An offer that cannot be refused.“Especially since it has 75,000 km today and still costs 12,500 euros”. But why this choice of one of the most powerful engines? “For the pleasure of course, but also for the recognized reliability of this engine”. And if he discovers and appreciates the Juke 2 launched barely two years ago, it is not therefore for its engine.
If he wanted to afford a first generation Juke, it is also because of his style. “Its Z-shaped lights and its frog look, I really liked”. More than its roominess in the rear seats. “It’s not huge, but for my little boy of 5 and a half years old, no problem.” He was afraid that the second generation of the small Japanese SUV would lose this particular look. but he is reassured. “It falls into line, it’s true, but it retains some specificities of the first. Even if it loses the lights in Z”.
A more qualitative interior
But his surprise is hidden inside the new Juke. And especially on the dashboard. “But also at the level of the console. The flexible plastics which replaced the hard parts of the first one are really better. Like the aerators, close to those which one finds at Mercedes.” He also appreciates the new seats and the screen, which is larger, and above all more readable, because it is located higher. On the other hand, he regrets the absence, in the model he is testing, of the 360-degree vision system, with the cameras arranged all around the car. “I have it on my Juke and it’s not only super practical, but the picture quality is also good and very smooth.”

The new Juke is also more comfortable on the road. “Much less bangs ass than mine, although I don’t have a reinforced chassis like on the Nismo”. It also appreciates air noise, which has decreased significantly on the second generation. Side trunk, Jeff has a good surprise. That of the new one seems deeper to him. And that’s more than an impression. If the trunk of the first Juke measured 354 l, that of the new model climbs to 422 l.
So, is Jeff tempted by this second version of the one who invented the urban SUV? Yes and no. If the car in itself rallies its votes, by its increased comfort and its style (almost) respected, the 3 cylinders of 1 l and 117hp does not convince him. The gain, certainly appreciable, in consumption is not an excellent argument for him. “With mine, I get to 7.5l in normal driving, and it can go up to 9.5l if I drive hard. It’s okay.” In fact, what he would like is a transplant: one that would consist of sliding the good old 190 hp 4-cylinder under the hood of the new Juke. Still, it would also be necessary to graft a sacred penalty to such an operation.
