Among the various performances offered on May 23 at the Billboard Music Awards, that of the singer The Weeknd particularly caught our eye. With the help of a team of professional stuntmen, the Canadian indeed offered us a magnificent automobile choreography in a huge empty parking lot.
Despite the obvious difficulties that such a performance represents, with about twenty cars, and the dangers it represents, it was entirely filmed live! While the singer performs his title Save Your Tears sitting on the bodywork in the back of what looks like a 1971 Mercury Monterey, a procession of Mercedes SLs of different generations (W113 and R107) indulge in a ballet tuned to the millimeter.
And as if that were not enough, it is heavyweights who arrive thereafter, overtaking on each side the singer who walks alone.

Fans of the artist will note while watching this video that he is not dressed in his usual red suit, the one that he wears for all his appearances in connection with his album After Hours. Instead, The Weeknd shows up in a black suit, black tie, and white shirt. Pitchfork magazine reporters asked him why he doesn’t appear in red, to which he replied: “The afternoon is over, and dawn is coming”. A mysterious formula to announce your next project? Not impossible.
The Weeknd’s latest album was nominated in 16 different categories for the 2021 Billboards Music Awards. And obviously it won a few, like Best Artist, Best Male Artist, Best R&B Album, Best radion song, best R&B song … In total, it won 9 trophies out of 16 nominations.
