A new competitor has emerged in the compact SUV segment. The Range Rover Evoque L debuts in China with a longer wheelbase and more interior space. This is Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s new bet in the premium segment.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover is the company through which the British brand sells its products in China. The latest big news is the new Range Rover Evoque L, tailored for customers in the Asian market. It offers more interior space, especially for the rear passengers’ legs.
The Land Rover model does not represent a radical transformation from the Range Rover Evoque, which has kept its appearance unchanged and differs only by a longer length and wheelbase, rear emblems and transparent taillight trim. There was another color combination, the body in English green and the roof in black.
Some measurements, which you can see in detail below compared to the base model, have increased the rear passengers’ legroom by 156 mm, reaching 1,015 mm.
There is no news in the front of the cabin either. The instrument panel has kept its design intact, with a digital instrument cluster and two more displays dominating the center console. However, the seats now have an electrically adjustable backrest, which allows the seat to be tilted 5 ° forward and 7 ° backward. Even the panoramic roof now has a large area of up to 0.82 m².
The new Chery Land Rover Evoque L is already on sale in China, and with only one mechanical variant, the Si4 MHEV. This is a powerful Ingenium 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 48V technology, offering a maximum power of 249 hp. and 365 Nm paired with 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Chery intends to win over discerning Chinese customers with this long wheelbase model and significantly increase sales that have fallen short of expected growth.
