So you may be concerned by a recall campaign that the two brands launched in June 2021. They have to check several thousand drawbars, the pivoting mechanism of which could include a defective locking pin. In extreme cases, this pin would be liable to break while driving, creating a risk of accident. A problem which is reminiscent of the one recently encountered by the Peugeot 3008, Citroën C5 Aircross and Opel Grandland X.
Four Audi models and the Tiguan affected
Less transparent than its competitor Stellantis, the Volkswagen group has not given us the number of copies concerned in France. He did not tell us either what corrective action was planned if the check of the coupling did indeed reveal a fault at this level, or how long this intervention could last. But he still confirmed to us that this problem could affect the 2016-2020 vintages of the Tiguan compact SUV, as well as the Audi A4, A5, A6 and A7 produced between 2016 and 2021, all bodies combined. No need to rush to the garage, however. If you need to do this reminder, you will normally be notified by registered mail: it is a legal obligation in this kind of case.
