The Pole-21 system suppresses satellite navigation over an area of up to 150 square kilometers, preventing the use of high-precision weapons.
The Ukrainian military with the help of a drone destroyed the Russian electronic warfare complex “Pole-21” in the Kherson region. This was reported on Facebook by the public organization Aerorazvedka.
Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance officers launched a Leleka drone over the occupied part of the Kherson region and discovered several electronic warfare systems located in one of the settlements. A group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called “Foresters” delivered pinpoint artillery strikes at the indicated coordinates, hitting enemy equipment. Judging by the date indicated in the video, the attacks took place on March 13, 2023.
“Remember how we raised money for the Leleka? That’s how beautifully it corrects artillery,” Aerorazvedka noted.
EW “Pole-21” interferes and suppresses any signals of navigation satellites within more than 25 km
The Russians are using R-340 RP “Pole-21” complexes to suppress satellite communications. According to ArmyInform, they entered service with the Russian Armed Forces in 2016. The complex creates interference and suppresses any signals of navigation satellites within more than 25 km, which are used to guide precision weapons, which as a result are lost in space and cannot perform a combat mission.
R-340 RP are built on a modular basis, and “Field-21” is a radio interference station, which consists of antennas and instrumentation. The complex includes a control center that provides communication between 100 posts. Each module has a power of up to 600 watts. Jammers together with antennas are placed on towers or masts, in addition, they can be placed on cars.
According to the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko, one transmitter covers an area of about 1.5 square kilometers. According to Igor Sidorenko, a researcher of Russian technology, the Russians usually install many Pole-21 modules over a large area, and one R-340 RP complex with 100 active posts covers an area of 150 square kilometers. Military expert Sergei Nalivaiko added that the technology allows you to selectively jam navigation systems, for example, only GPS or only Galileo.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reported on the most dangerous Russian electronic warfare systems operating on the territory of Ukraine: Redoubt 2-US, Repellent, Zhitel and Borisoglebsk. They suppress communications and UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, making it difficult to carry out offensives.
It has recently become known that the Russian Armed Forces have delivered Halibut anti-drone systems to the front. Ukrainian expert Sergey Flash told how they work.
