Serviceable pads should not “squeal”.
It is better to eliminate the creak, and for this it is important to understand why it appeared, says Alexei Revin, an expert at Driving.
First of all, you need to understand whether the creak is coming from your car. To do this, you can open the window and listen to the brakes.
Recall when it first struck you. If after driving on a gravel road, then it is likely that a small pebble has imprinted into the block or into its groove, and now it tears up the brake disc every time you press the brake pedal. You need to remove the pads and look for the source of the squeak.
If the creaking began immediately after replacing the pads, then the work was done poorly. Return to service. There were cases when the pads were inserted with the back side – the sound would more likely resemble a rattle. But this is a rare case. More often, the service simply does not follow the rules for their installation. To prevent new brake pads from creaking, thoroughly clean all mating surfaces before installing them.
If the pads are of poor quality, then the material of the friction lining itself may creak. In this case, the pads will have to be replaced. Also, a creak may appear when the pads are worn out. Here the “medicine” is the same as in the previous case.
