Three members of the Rust crew are suing Alec Baldwin for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Alec Baldwin and the producers of Rust were sued this week by three members of the crew, alleging they suffered “post-traumatic stress disorder” as a result of shooting the film’s cameraman. Variety writes about it.
In a civil lawsuit filed in New Mexico on Monday, cart operator Ross Addiego, dresser Doran Curtin, and housekeeper Reese Price allege they were inside a Bonanza Creek Ranch church building on October 21, 2021, when a real bullet was fired from Baldwin’s gun. , which ended up in Galina Hutchins and director Joel Souza.
All three claim to have sustained “explosive injuries” from the loud gunshot, with Curtin claiming that Hutchins, 42, collapsed to the ground in front of her.
“Plaintiff Curtin placed her hands on Hutchins’ stomach, trying to find the source of Hutchins’ pain and find out what was going on,” the lawsuit says. As the chaos continued, Plaintiff Curtin was escorted out of the church. Once outside, she passed out from the effects of the explosion and the shock of the gunfire.

The plaintiffs allege that in the months following the shooting, they were abandoned without sufficient resources to deal with their problems, which include “insomnia, anxiety, depression, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.”
The lawsuit blames the shooting on Baldwin and his fellow producers, who, according to crew members, hired inexperienced or negligent employees, including gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez Reed, to save time and money on the low-budget western.
The document also cites allegations that the 64-year-old actor was negligently oblivious during gun practice and did not make sure the gun was not loaded before firing.
Recall that Matthew Hutchins, the widower of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins, who died while filming Rust in October 2021, will appear in court as he has been added to the New Mexico District Attorney’s list of witnesses to testify at a preliminary hearing.
The new lawsuit was reportedly filed after Santa Fe prosecutors charged Baldwin on January 31 with manslaughter, negligence and neglect of safety.
Prosecutors allege Baldwin pulled the trigger on the gun that killed Hutchins while Gutierrez-Reid failed to defuse it.
Last year, Matthew, who is survived by a 9-year-old son, sued the film’s crew and was named executive director as part of a settlement. Previously, he expressed “no interest in mutual accusations.”
Focus also wrote that in October 2022, Baldwin managed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the husband of the deceased, Matt Hutchins.
