According to Roberta Metsola, the future of Ukraine is in the European Union, whose representatives are ready to go all this way with the Ukrainians.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, admits that Ukraine could start negotiations on joining the EU as early as 2023. She stated this on March 4 in Lviv, where she met with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, Sky News reports.
“The future of Ukraine is in the European Union. We will go all the way with you,” the President of the European Parliament, who, together with Zelensky, met students of the Lviv National University named after. Ivan Franko.
In June, EU officials agreed that Ukraine deserved candidate status.
At a joint press conference with Zelensky, Metsola said that all those responsible for Russian war crimes in Ukraine, including the president of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, must be held accountable before a lasting peace can be achieved.

Metsola also supported the EU’s decision to set up an international center in The Hague to investigate the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Recall that the European Parliament announced when Ukraine can join the European Union. Kyiv can count on full membership in the EU not earlier than 2029.
