Andrey Boechko is sure that The New York Times Magazine journalists published false information about the Ukrainian hero Ruslan Kornutich, who is currently undergoing treatment.
Journalists of the British media The New York Times Magazine were accused of publishing unreliable information about the Ukrainian military Ruslan Kornutych. Journalist and volunteer Andrei Boechko, who knows the veteran personally, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
Boechko wrote that the story published in the media about the fate and current state of the Ukrainian military (journalists wrote that after the psychological trauma the man stopped talking) is not true.
“The New York Times again publishes unverified information. Ruslan is my friend, so I cannot remain silent, and I must refute all this nonsense. He never told any of the doctors or journalists,” the volunteer wrote.
Boechko said that, together with a team of volunteers, he has been helping Ruslan’s unit from the first day of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
“Yes, after two months in hell itself near Bakhmut, it’s hard for him. Injuries and concussions have not helped anyone in life yet. And Ruslan is no exception. what is written in the material (The New York Times Magazine, – ed.) is not true,” the volunteer emphasized.
Boechko turned to social media users and asked them to help spread this publication. And he urged foreign journalists to “stop fantasizing.”

The New York Times Magazine scandal: what preceded it
Media on March 14 published a photo report from the department of the Kyiv City Psychiatric Hospital No. 1 named after Ivan Pavlov, where Ukrainian soldiers who returned from the front are being treated and rehabilitated.
The material told about the everyday life of the hospital department, in which doctors provide medical assistance and psychological support to the military.
In particular, the journalists told the story of a fighter who, after the death of his comrades on the front line, cannot talk.
“One fighter, even a month after the tragedy, does not speak at all. The doctor told his story: “There were four of them. They shot down a Russian drone from the sky. Small victory. Then its fragments rushed down, pieces of torn metal crashed into the people below. “The fighter is the only one who survived then, and he had to hold the position next to the dead all night and the next day. Since he was found, he has been silent,” says in the material.
Under this part of the material, the publication published a photo of sapper Ruslan Kornutich.
