Russian propaganda, constantly describing the situation in Bakhmut, uses the term “operational encirclement”. And this erroneous phrase began to unobtrusively integrate into our information space.
In reality, there is no operational environment in Bakhmut. The use of this term is not only erroneous, but also grossly unprofessional in the context of describing the operational situation in and around the city.
Although it is perfectly clear why Russian propaganda imposes this term, which few people understand, but from which they try to squeeze the maximum effect, spreading distorted information, designed to motivate and demotivate at the same time. Everything depends on the consumer.
Indeed, in the ninth month of the offensive on Bakhmut, this small town is not surrounded! And how to impose certain relations on the consumer of informational fast food? It is very easy to feed him incomprehensible terms in which he does not understand anything, but remotely draws a distorted picture for himself.
So what is an “operational environment”? This is the position of the unit when it is isolated from the main group of troops, as a result of which it cannot receive supplies or secure a way out of the isolation zone, but has freedom of maneuver.
That is, “operational encirclement” – that is, if Bakhmut in his current state were completely surrounded, but the city itself remained under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which could freely move within its borders to repel enemy attacks – would have freedom of maneuver.
Thus, the city is now not in the operational environment, and the use of this term is not only incorrect, but also plays along with Russian propaganda spreading manipulations within the overall chain of IPSO on Bakhmut.
