Ukraine returned the cultural property, which in September last year, the Russians tried to import into the United States. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
Yesterday, on March 10, an official ceremony of returning cultural and historical values to Ukraine was held on the territory of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States. Artifacts were detained by US border guards while trying to smuggle them out of the Russian Federation.
Among the returned artifacts: akinaki swords of the Scythian culture of the 6th-5th centuries. BC, a flint polished ax is dated to the 3rd millennium BC, Polovtsian sabers from the times of the ancient Russian state of the 11th-12th centuries.
“Russia has a long tradition of appropriating what does not belong to it. Together with the Ukrainian territory, the same applies to our cultural tangible and intangible heritage, which is now barbarously plundered by the occupiers. Thanks to everyone who implemented this extremely complex, but very important operation,” – said the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.
In the future, the issue of transporting the rescued valuables to the territory of Ukraine will be resolved.

The Bar Gill Comb was found by archaeologists from the London Archaeological Museum. It was found among 280 thousand other artifacts collected by researchers between 2016 and 2018.
