Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu demands that Colonel-General Rustam Muradov immediately seize Ugledar in order to justify his recently awarded military rank.
A conflict is brewing in the top military leadership of the Russian Federation due to significant losses and the lack of real achievements at the front. This was reported in the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of March 5.
According to the agency, in February 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the commander of the Eastern Military District Rustam Muradov the rank of colonel general for a report on the alleged successes of the 155th Marine Brigade in the Ugledar direction.
Therefore, now the head of the RF Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, is demanding that Muradov “work out” his rank and seize Ugledar at any cost.
However, the leadership of the brigade and the military refuse to go on the offensive again, since the Russian troops will have to storm the well-fortified positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces without any support and preparation.
The situation in Vugledar: what is known today
Fighting for Vuhledar continues, and the Ukrainian military is holding back the enemy who is trying to capture the city.
At the same time, the RF Armed Forces began to lose control over the so-called “Cossack battalions” that are stationed near Ugledar. There it performs combat missions, fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the volunteer battalion “Steppe / Tiger”, recruited by the Primorsky District Cossack Society of the Ussuri Military Cossack Society.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the command of the unit is extremely dissatisfied with the leadership of the RF Armed Forces and neglects interaction with units of the Russian army, ignoring the orders of the military authorities.
Also, as it became known on March 5, the film crew of the Russian propagandist journalist Vladimir Solovyov came under artillery fire. Solovyov arrived in the Ugledar region to speak to the 155th Marine Brigade.
Permission to come to the war zone was given to Solovyov and his employees personally by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov, who was supposed to ensure the safety of the propagandist. However, when Solovyov arrived at the location of the Marines, artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit the settlement.
Recall that in early March, Warspotting updated the data on the losses of the Russian Armed Forces near Ugledar. According to analysts, Monday, February 6, turned out to be the most unfortunate for the occupiers. Then, in a day, the RF Armed Forces irrevocably lost 43 pieces of equipment.
Focus also wrote that in February, a video appeared on the network of Russian invaders senselessly losing armored vehicles, blowing themselves up in a mined field. After the tank at the head of the column explodes due to a mine, Russian tankers continue to move through the minefield in armored vehicles, taking off into the air one by one.
