According to journalists, Aleksey Zmanovsky and scientist Andrei Botikov quarreled over the type and volume of sexual services. A court in Moscow sent the man into custody until May 2.
The Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow in the Russian Federation has arrested Alexei Zmanovsky until May 2, who is accused of killing Andrey Botikov, one of the creators of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. On Friday, March 3, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the court.
“The court granted the investigator’s petition to order a preventive measure in the form of detention against Alexei Zmanovsky,” the court said.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, on the eve of March 2, Zmanovsky, while in Botikov’s apartment on Rogova Street, quarreled with the scientist and strangled him with a belt.
According to the Mash online publication, 29-year-old Zmanovsky is a native of Kaluga, in Moscow he provides sexual services to men for material reward. Presumably, he quarreled with the scientist who invited him to the house because of the volume and type of sex. According to the media, after the murder, Zmanovsky robbed Botikov.
Several stab wounds and abrasions were found on the body of the deceased, as well as signs of strangulation.
According to journalists, Zmanovsky has an accomplice – 18-year-old girlfriend Olga Duboiskaya, who also came to the capital of the Russian Federation from Kaluga. She was waiting for a man at the entrance of the house. The girl was also arrested.
During interrogation by the police, the man fully admitted his guilt. RIA Novosti writes that Zmanovsky has already been prosecuted for a serious crime.
The man accused of murder faces up to 15 years in prison.
Recall that today Focus has already talked about the murder of Botikov. He worked as a senior researcher at the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaleya. He was a co-author of the patent for the Sputnik V vaccine, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the scientist for developing the drug.
Later it became known that Botikov was killed by a man providing sexual services. Prior to that, he had already served 10 years in prison for kidnapping.
