Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman for the eastern group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the trips of top generals and commanders to the Bakhmut zone are a clear sign that Ukrainian forces will continue to fight for every meter of land.
The capture of the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region remains a priority for Russian troops. However, the experience of the Armed Forces makes it possible to rebuild the defense and continue resistance, despite the fact that the RF Armed Forces are destroying bridges in the city area. This was stated by the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty on the air of the telethon.
He noted that the trips of top generals and commanders to the Bakhmut zone are a clear marker that Ukrainian forces will continue to fight for every meter of land.
“Bakhmut today is the epicenter of the war. Only in the area of the city itself, the enemy made 21 shelling and 9 combat contacts in a day … 155 occupiers were killed, 239 were injured, and three were taken prisoner,” the representative of the command said.
Sergei Cherevaty added that now the situation around the city is difficult, but controlled. The representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the blowing up of bridges in the city by Russian troops. According to him, the experience of the 9-year war allows the Ukrainian army to rebuild the defense and fight further.
“This is a war, and in such a flurry of fire, critical infrastructure facilities are also being destroyed,” he said.
Recall that on March 4, British intelligence reported that the Ukrainian command had deployed elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold Bakhmut. According to experts, the invaders have moved into the northern suburbs of the city and are attacking the positions of the Ukrainian army from three sides.
On March 3, the police in the Donetsk region said that Russian troops destroyed a vital bridge that connects Bakhmut and the nearest town of Chasov Yar with a rocket. The Ukrainian military can still get into the village, but only on dirt roads and fields.
