According to the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, the occupiers began to more carefully check the documents and phones of the population. The Russian military also began to mine the approaches to the bridges at an accelerated pace.
The Russian invaders in Mariupol began to build new fortifications near the bridges and mine the area near them. This was announced by the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, in his Telegram channel.
According to him, the Russian Armed Forces went to strengthen the regime in the city.
“From today (from March 2, – ed.), the invaders set up checkpoints at the exit from Mariupol to Sartana (an urban-type settlement in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Administratively subordinate to the Kalmiussky district council of Mariupol, – ed.),” Andryushchenko wrote.
He clarified that for local residents this means a complete check of documents (the occupiers are interested in identity documents, registration and whether a person went through filtration camps) and mobile phones.
Also, the Russian military has equipped new checkpoints on all bridges.
In addition, they began to dig trenches and mine the area around them.
“The regime has become afraid. Even from the outside, it becomes difficult to convince that Russia is here forever,” Andryushchenko summed up.
We will remind, earlier Petr Andryushchenko said that the occupiers in Mariupol were taking phones from state employees to install wiretapping. The Russians intend to strengthen control over the communication of citizens using mobile communications in order to avoid transmitting information to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Employees of the social sphere have already been informed that the installation of a special wiretapping program is mandatory.
In addition, on February 28, Andryushchenko said that, judging by the active movement of manpower and equipment, the enemy continues to prepare for offensive operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, at least 10 tanks (one of them with the flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and one large howitzer were advancing towards Mariupol.
