According to Vice Chancellor Robert Habek, before the supply of weapons, it is necessary to find out who is the aggressor and who is forced to defend himself. Separately, the Minister of Germany is convinced of the correctness of the decision to provide weapons to Ukraine.
German Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Robert Habeck called for a fundamental change in the attitude towards the export of German weapons and in the future to carry out deliveries based on values. According to him, before making a decision on the supply of weapons, it is necessary to determine who is the perpetrator and who is the victim. The politician spoke about this on March 2 in an interview with Wirtschaftswoche.
The minister considers it right to decide to provide military assistance to Ukraine at a time when an armed conflict is going on on its territory.
“The fact that the complete taboo on the supply of weapons to the war zones was lifted, in my opinion, is the right decision in relation to Ukraine,” Khabek said.
The politician also wants Germany to act tough enough against dictatorships. In a practical sense, this will mean that if it comes to arms exports, the government must find out who is the aggressor and who is waging a defensive war and, based on this, make a decision.
“In the future, when issuing export licenses, we must ask who is the perpetrator and who is the victim, aggressor and defender, and make appropriate decisions. We must supply products to countries that are close to us in values and are our partners,” the Vice President stressed. chancellor.
