According to the opposition association BYPOL, a Russian plane at a military airfield near Minsk was attacked by two drones.
Details of the attack on the Belarusian airfield “Machulishchi” have become known, during which the A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was seriously damaged. According to the head of the BYPOL association Alexander Azarov, the attack was carried out by partisans from Belarus, members of the Peramoga plan, using drones.
“These were drones. The participants in the operation are Belarusians, participants in the Peramoga plan, they are now safe outside the country. Everyone has left, let them now look for the wind in the field,” Azarov said.
He said that the operation was being prepared for several months, and suggested that the current authorities in Minsk would not call this attack a reason for the direct participation of the Belarusian army in the war in Ukraine.
“They can say anything, but I don’t think it’s profitable for Lukashenka to attack Ukraine now. Indeed, he can use this action to blame everything on the Ukrainians, but now there are not enough Russian troops in Belarus to it would be possible to make a new attack on Ukraine,” Azarov said.
Let’s remind, explosions have sounded this morning, about 10 mornings. The A-50 reconnaissance aircraft was seriously damaged, and, according to BYPOL, “it will definitely not fly anywhere.” Increased traffic police activity was observed near the airfield. The surroundings of a possible state of emergency were patrolled by a helicopter, and OMON was working on the ground.
A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft are used to target and control fighters. Now they are involved in the war in Ukraine. In total, the RF Armed Forces had nine pieces.
The Belarusian and Russian ministries have not yet commented on the attack on the plane.
According to preliminary data, the front and central parts, avionics and radar antenna of the aircraft were damaged.
