Ukrainian defenders liquidated the enemy assault group in Bakhmut in close combat, killing nine people. At the same time, five invaders were injured, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SFSU) reported on February 26.
It is reported that over the past 24 hours, the enemy has been carrying out artillery strikes against the stronghold of the Defense Forces in the Bakhmut direction. In response, Ukrainian units, supported by air reconnaissance, attacked the enemy with machine guns, grenade launchers and mortars.
“As a result, the soldiers of the State Border Service liquidated one of the assault groups in close combat,” the report says.

“In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to attack the positions of our troops. He carried out unsuccessful offensive operations near the settlements of Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Berkhovka, Yagodnoe, Bakhmut, Ivanovskoye and Severnoye of the Donetsk region,” the General Staff reported.
In total, Russian troops shelled areas of 22 settlements, including Bakhmut, Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Dubovo-Vasilyevka, Kurdyumovka and others. In addition, the city of Konstantinovka fell under enemy missile attack.
Recall that the Russian media reported that the Ukrainian military allegedly blew up a dam in the Bakhmut area. As RIA-Novosti reported on February 25, a dam was blown up at the northern headquarters in order to stop the advance of the Russians.
On February 25, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian military command had deployed detachments of the Chechen regiment “Akhmat” to the Bakhmut direction, which were ordered to restrain desertion and sabotage of the mobilized. It is reported that about 200 Chechen military personnel arrived near Bakhmut for these purposes.
