Japanese publication Bestcarweb.jp reported that Toyota is working with Suzuki and Daihatsu to develop a compact mid-engined sports car.
According to rumors, the curb weight of the novelty will be less than one ton, and the main unit will be a liter turbo engine with a capacity of 120 hp and 200 Hm. To help which an electric generator will go (to save fuel and help in the first seconds of acceleration). And the role of the gearbox will be assigned to the five-speed “mechanics”.
The engine is developed by Suzuki, and the chassis is borrowed from the current generation Toyota Yaris.

The exterior design will be reminiscent of the Daihatsu Copen, although in 2021 Toyota unveiled an electric mid-engined sports car concept (pictured above). Which many immediately began to call the successor to the Toyota MR2, it is quite possible that its design will form the basis of the future novelty from three Japanese manufacturers.
The source even calls the dimensions of the sports car:
Length: 4200 mm Width: 1720 mm Height: 1220 mm Wheelbase: 2550 mm
It is expected that the estimated cost of a compact sports car will be 2,200,000 million yen (1,250,000 rubles). By the way, these are just rumors, there is no official confirmation of the development of such a car yet. However, the source is quite reliable.
