Manufacturer’s champion, Peugeot also placed one of its models at the top of the ranking of the best-selling cars in France in 2021. It is obviously the 208, of which 88,057 copies have been registered. It is ahead of the Clio, sold at 85,385 units. Proof that small cars have been disrupted by the shortage of semiconductors, these two market stars are not doing better than in 2020! In one year, the Peugeot has fallen by 8.1%, the Renault by 11%.
But this is not a generality. The proof on the third step of the podium, where we find the Dacia Sandero! It thus gained three places and saw its sales soar by 44%, to 77,054 copies. And if the Sandero is third in all sales channels, it is first in the most important market, that of individuals. Dacia places a second model in the top 10: the Duster climbs to 9th place, helped by the return of the EDC box (which represents 20% of orders).
Another big Peugeot / Renault match: urban SUVs. And if the first Captur dominated the first 2008, for the second generation of these models, the Lion does much better than the Losange: 75,478 2008 were registered, against 52,605 Captur. Note that the C3 Aircross, despite its restyling, is far behind, with only 26,669 sales.
Among the good results, we note that of the Fiat 500, boosted by its electric version. The Italian city car goes up to 13th place. On the other hand, it is the fall for Zoe, which falls from 9th to 16th place, with 23,575 units, down 37% (the lack of semiconductors weighs heavily). As a result, the Zoe is overtaken by the incredible Tesla Model 3, which goes from 64th to 14th place, with 24,911 sales! It therefore sells better than the last C4 (22,358 sales).
Renault can console itself with the good start of the Arkana, already 22nd with 17,977 sales (71% of which were hybrids). The SUV coupe sits right in front of the surprising Hyundai Tucson. The hybrid engines and the original look of the Korean SUV seduce! The Tucson thus doubles the Volkswagen Tiguan. Moreover, on the VW side, if the Polo and the T-Roc are in good shape, the Golf is sinking, being only 30th.
