Next spring, Porsche will present the new Taycan. Here is all the information about the latest version of the first EV in the history of the Germans from Zuffenhausen.
The moment for the first EV in the history of Porsche to go into its second… phase is approaching, as both the 4 doors and Tourism Course versions of the new Taycan as well as the Sports Tourism are “preparing” for their official debut which is scheduled to take place next spring.
Already, all development prototypes of the new Porsche Taycan have cumulatively traveled more than 3.6 million kilometers in the context of tests on tracks and public roads in 17 countries around the world. And in fact, under the most extreme conditions and temperatures that ranged from +53 degrees Celsius in California's infamous Death Valley up to and including -41 degrees Celsius north of the Finnish Arctic Circle.
“We have improved the new Taycan in almost every area compared to its predecessor”says vice president of the division responsible for model development, Kevin Giek. “And because the changes are so extensive, the exhaustive testing program is almost comparable to that of a brand new model”.
From its premiere, the new Porsche EV will be available to three known body types: the sporty Taycan sedan, the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo, which will be available with an off-road “package” and the sporty but more practical Taycan Sport Turismo.
What new does the new Porsche Taycan bring with it?
The new Porsche Taycan is expected to “carry” limited changes in its exterior design, mainly in the front. There, the quad headlights will be more aligned with the front edge of the hood, while the most obvious changes have to do with the redesigned air intakes which will help achieve a better drag coefficient than the 0.22 value of the current model.
On the side, vertical vent behind the front wheels remains, while additional vents meet below the light bar at the back. There, the lower part of the diffuser is expected to be more accentuated.
With nothing officially announced, everything indicates that Porsche will intervene in the heat management system of the new Taycan resulting in even higher autonomy. Operations are also expected at car electrical circuitfor even higher DC charging speeds.
All indications are that the range of the new Taycan will incorporate one new version with three electric motors. Just like the Tesla Model S Plaid. And here the maximum power of the three units will exceed 1,000 horsepower.
This is the version that recently dethroned Tesla's American sedan from the top of the podium as the fastest production EV in the “Green Hell” of the great Nurburgring, where it recorded a time of 7:07.55, according to what Porsche announced a few weeks ago.
