The new design and construction for the Amariotiko road, which is an emblematic and major project for the Rethymno Regional Unit, was signed by the Region of Crete.
The contract for the road project concerning the Rethymnon-Phragma Potamon section, with a total budget of 11,800,000 euros, was signed by the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnautakis, at the Rethymno Regional Unit. It is about the Amariotiko road, which is an emblematic and major project for the Regional Unit of Rethymno, as the Regional Governor of Crete pointed out. The deputy governor of Rethymno, Mary Lioni, also spoke about a major project of special importance, presenting the details of the project in detail.
The project is part of the road axis Rethymno-Apostolii-Mandres and includes three sections. The first one from Rethymno (area of the uneven junction of Amari) to Tzivera, 1.81 kilometers long, where an urban intersection with sidewalks is implemented and the construction of a rainwater drainage network is planned. The second from the exit of the settlement of Prasses (south) to the church of Agia Fotini and the third from the Sima Bridge to the area of the Potamos dam, 2.97 km long, which includes two bridges and three level junctions connecting to the existing local road network . Specifically, to Giannoudi, to Prasses and to Myrthos.
The planting of trees and shrubs on the surfaces offered for this purpose and the construction of a corresponding irrigation network, as well as street lighting works at the locations of the level junctions, are also foreseen. Source: Region of Crete
