It is reported that the 16th Mechanized Division in Olsztyn, a city in northern Poland, has already received new types of military equipment, including Korean K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled artillery mounts, as well as HIMARS ordered in 2019.
“The 16th Mechanized Division is getting stronger and stronger every week thanks to its fighters and equipment,” Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said while participating in an event on the occasion of the military oath of soldiers of voluntary military service and the Territorial Defense Forces.
The minister said that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to “restore the evil empire”, and therefore attacks his neighbors.
“Our task, the task of the Polish authorities, is to strengthen the Polish armed forces in such a way that Putin does not dare to attack Poland,” he added.
Recall that Poland will supply Ukrainian fighters with Grot carbines. Polish observers noted that the choice of Grot was not accidental – after a batch of carbines was sent to Ukraine free of charge last year, the Ukrainian military spoke positively about the Polish machine gun.
Also, Polish President Andrzej Duda said on March 16 that his country would transfer 4 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in the coming days. In addition to the announcement of the first four aircraft, the Polish politician said that the remaining aircraft are being prepared for transfer, but the exact number is not known.
