As part of large-scale exercises, imitation of battles took place right on the streets of Cahors. Local residents followed with interest the process of operations of the British and French military. We came to this scenario taking into account the experience of military operations in Ukraine.
In the city of Cahors in southern France, joint exercises are being held with the British, in which the military practice warfare in urban areas. For their implementation, no one began to restrict the movement and access of civilians. It is reported by The War Zone.
Blanks were fired on the streets of the city, but the locals continued to stroll around Kaora as if nothing had happened. It is noted that in Cahors, a hyper-realistic scenario of the exercises was worked out, which is part of a much larger set of multinational exercises conducted in France. The publication notes that the military practiced actions in an urban environment in order to prepare for battle in huge cities with all possible obstacles and tactical possibilities.
Presumably, the footage shows the 2nd Royal Gurkha Rifles of the British Army, which is located on the streets of the city. Snipers and machine gunners are located in the usual urban areas. Some people filmed the whole action on their phones, while the other calmly passed by the location of the military.
“Tantal’s militia, you’re surrounded! Procedure: remove the magazine from the weapon, throw the weapon from behind and slowly move towards the ORION soldiers,” came from the loudspeaker nearby.
Along with blanks, smoke bombs were used, and the sounds of helicopters were heard throughout the city. The French army said it had informed citizens about the exercise in advance. MOUT exercises focus on improving urban combat skills. The war in Ukraine shows that clashes can spread to cities and towns where people live.
Recall that on March 14, the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the UK were trained in trench fighting. The instructors were the Australian military.
On March 9, the Ministry of Internal Affairs showed the preparation of the Spartan assault brigade before it was sent to the front.
