The incident with the use of firearms occurred in November 2021.
Rakim Atelaston Myers, better known as A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s boyfriend, is set to return to court where a judge will decide whether the musician will be held responsible for shooting former friend and fellow rapper A$AP Relli in 2021, according to the Daily Mail.
Last year, the artist was already tried to prosecute for assault with a semi-automatic firearm, but he pleaded not guilty to two charges. In August, he was released on $550,000 bail. On March 14, he was supposed to attend a criminal court in downtown Los Angeles, where Judge Kerry White scheduled a preliminary hearing to be held on June 5, but the rapper did not appear there.
If found guilty, A$AP Rocky faces up to four years behind bars on each count.
The incident took place in November 2021 in Hollywood. Myers and rapper Terrell Efron, a member of Harlem-based rap group A$AP Mob, got into a big fight. During an argument, A$AP Rocky pointed a gun at Efron and then shot him twice, wounding him in the arm.
Efron has filed a civil assault and battery lawsuit in which his lawyers say Myers “pulled out a gun and purposefully pointed it in (Efron’s) side and fired several shots.” In addition to Efron’s “fearing for his life”, the lawsuit alleges that he was “hit by a bullet/shrapnel”, resulting in injuries requiring medical attention.
In April 2022, Rihanna’s boyfriend was arrested at the Los Angeles airport, where he flew on a private flight with Riri after a holiday in Barbados. He was later released on bail. Months later, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon decided the charges were serious enough to insist on a felony rather than a misdemeanor status.
Myers is also subject to a protection order requiring him to stay away from Efron for at least 100 years and have no contact with him.
Focus previously wrote that A$AP Rocky was accused of assault during a street fight in Sweden that attracted the attention of other celebrities and US President Donald Trump. He was found guilty and given a suspended sentence. He was ordered to pay compensation to the victim.
