The Russian hitman who planned the assassination of Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov will spend the next 12 years in prison. This is stated in the press release of the SBU.
A preventive measure in the form of imprisonment for a period of 12 years with confiscation of property to the organizer of the sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was appointed by the Pechersky District Court of Kiev.
The attacker organized the murders of Ukrainian officials, as well as one well-known activist.

Based on the evidence collected by the SBU, the Pechersk Court found the defendant guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Art. 111 (high treason); art. 14, art. 27, art. 115 (preparation to commit murder); art. 260 (participation in armed formations unforeseen by law); art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist organization).
Recall that on December 21, 2022, the head of the SBU, Vasily Malyuk, said that the special service prevented the Russians from killing Budanov and Reznikov. According to him, the performer was detained while trying to enter the country. The SBU does not want to disclose details so that the Russians “do not learn from their mistakes.”
