Ukrainian information security specialists have warned that Russians are trying to sow despair among Ukrainians with the help of advertising bought from social networks, as well as undermine confidence in the president.
The Russian Federation has prepared a new information attack against Ukraine on social networks. Among its goals is to undermine the confidence of citizens in the current government. This is stated in a press release from the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
According to the information received, the campaign to demoralize Ukrainians has already started and with its help they will try to sow despair among the public, as noted in the CNS.
“The campaign to spread lies started on March 11. The occupiers want to undermine the confidence of the Ukrainian society in the authorities, manipulating the supposedly lost battle for Bakhmut and the fact that the allies will leave us with the enemy to their fate,” the report says.
Information attack: the main messages used by Russian propagandists
There are several narratives that propagandists try to use in an information attack:
“The battle for Bakhmut is lost by Ukraine”; “The West does not believe in Ukraine”; “The command of the Defense Forces has already fled, and “the guys are fighting back on their own”; “The United States is reducing arms supplies because they allegedly caught the Ukrainian authorities stealing supplies.”
The CNS immediately noted that in fact this is not true. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend Bakhmut, weapons and equipment continue to come from the West in large volumes and will soon be used during the counteroffensive.
