In the summer of 2022, a resident of Ryazan was fined for making comments against Russian aggression in Ukraine, and a man could face up to five years in prison for repeated violations related to “discrediting” the Russian Armed Forces.
A resident of the Russian Federation is going to be put on trial for “discrediting” the RF Armed Forces. The reason was an anecdote on the social network “VKontakte” about the retreat of Russian invaders from Kherson, according to Russian media.
Vasily Bolshakov, a resident of the Ryazan region, has been prosecuted under the article on “repeated discrediting of the Russian army” (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). The publication on the social network is to blame, as the man’s wife noted to the source.
This is already a repeated “violation” by Vasily Bolshakov, because last summer he was already fined for comments on the Internet that allegedly “discredit” the RF Armed Forces. Information about this was stored on the website of the Kasimovsky District Court, which appointed this measure of punishment, but was later hidden.
In mid-February, law enforcement officers of the Russian Federation came to the family’s home, knocked the man to the floor and started beating him. During the search, a phone and a laptop were seized.
This time, a criminal case was opened because of an anecdote that the man shared with his subscribers and it was about the retreat of the occupiers from Kherson: “I haven’t read really funny jokes for a long time:
– Sergey, why are we retreating from Kherson?
“Volodya, you yourself ordered the liberation of Ukraine from the fascists and Nazis…”
Under Russian law, Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code provides for five years’ imprisonment. In the near future, the case of the man should be held in court.
Recall that on March 12, Russian media reported that a schoolgirl in the Russian Federation was sent to an orphanage for an anti-war drawing, and her parents are being deprived of parental rights. The shelter did not provide any information about the condition of the girl, as activists noted.
On March 1, the State Duma announced tougher penalties for “discrediting” the RF Armed Forces. Russian parliamentarians propose to increase fines from a maximum of 300 thousand to five million rubles. According to the new amendments, in the event of criminal liability, the punishment may increase from three to 15 years in prison.
