The soldiers visited the mother of the deceased soldier in the city of Nizhyn and received confirmation from his relatives. Accurate identification is key, so information about the identity of the deceased must be reasoned and confirmed from several sources. There is a characteristic detail in the photo – a slaughter closed with a plaster over the right eyebrow. Alexander was slaughtered about two weeks before his death, I was provided with a lifetime photo of the slaughter. Also a sign is the green chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was presented to the fighter by his platoon commander, it has features, since it was made to order, I also have a photo of it. The key fact is the post-mortem forensic examination done before Alexander’s funeral in February. The mortuary photo I received clearly shows the bullet holes where the bullets hit in the video.
In any case, the presence of expertise allows you to accurately confirm or refute this version, since the places where the bullets hit are visible. Here is what the brothers told about the circumstances of the life and heroic death of the Warrior:
Alexander Matsievsky was born on May 10, 1980 in the city of Chisinau, Moldova, in 2008 he moved with his family to Ukraine, to the city of Nezhin, where his mother lives. Oleksandr had no experience of military service before, but immediately after the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, he volunteered for the 163rd battalion of the 119th brigade, which defended the Chernihiv region.
He was a man with a very tough character, but in a combat situation one could always rely on him both comrades and commander. Reliable and demanding of everyone, but above all to himself.

In November, his unit was transferred to the area of the city of Bakhmut, where he performed tasks for about a month. Alexander Matsievsky and his comrades had a certain level of training and became a fired unit. When the front was broken through near Soledar and it was necessary to save the brothers who continued to defend the city, the 163rd battalion was alerted.
On December 30, in the morning, the fire support company, in which Alexander Matsievsky served as a sniper, took up positions near the city of Soledar, Donetsk region. They had to go into an uncontrolled zone, gain a foothold and hold a forest plantation in order to cover the direction in which there were no longer our troops. The enemy was close, but the unit had no information where the enemy was located, it was necessary to act quickly in order to save our troops in Soledar.
Since our forces were small, and the front had to be controlled wide, Matsievsky’s platoon took up a number of separate positions in the bush, which did not allow visual observation of each other. On the extreme flank, 5 fighters were placed in position, including Alexander Matsievsky.
Our fighters did not have time to study the situation, organize defense, reconnaissance, since almost immediately they were attacked by the enemy, who had already advanced to the line of deployment of our unit. In fact, a counter battle ensued, which lasted 12 hours throughout the entire position. The Nizhyn territorial defense held the forest plantation, held all positions except one. During the battle, communication with a group of fighters and Alexander Matsievsky was lost. His platoon’s attempts to reach these positions met enemy fire, it was clear that the position was captured.
What exactly happened during the battle is unknown. Alexander went into battle in full combat gear. He was ex officio a sniper in a fire support company, but due to certain circumstances, he went into this battle with a conventional machine gun.
Obviously, the video was filmed after Alexander Matsievsky was captured under unknown circumstances, since there was no equipment on him in the video.
The twin brothers are sure that Matsievsky did his due, he did not give up, but he was captured suddenly, he did not have the opportunity to fight. This could happen due to the difficult situation of the oncoming battle, since the enemy had already actually reached our positions, they could be bypassed from the rear or from the flank.

In February, the body of Alexander Matsievsky and his two brothers was returned home, but at that time there was no information about the circumstances of his death. The results of the forensic medical examination are consistent with the injuries seen in the video. The bodies of two more missing fighters have not been returned, the brothers are waiting for information about their fate.
On February 14, Alexander Matsievsky was buried in the cemetery in Nizhyn. Brothers know that the hero has a son of 19 years old. The mother of the hero is Praskovya Mikhailovna Demchuk, lives in the city of Nizhyn. Today, Alexander’s comrades visited her and informed her about the available information about the fate of her son.
The behavior of a hero captured during a battle, performing tasks in a very difficult environment, far exceeds the usual requirements for the performance of military duty. The Russians who posted the video tried to humiliate his memory.
But in fact, the whole world saw the terrible crime of the Russian military against an unarmed fighter. The Russian army surrenders captured cities without a fight, Russian troops run away from the battlefield if they are surrounded, the Russian military easily surrender, because for them this war is only a big income, a career, liberation from condemnation.
Ukraine is waging a war for independence, Ukrainians are going into battle for the sake of the Ukrainian nation, a free future, Ukrainians give their lives for their land for the sake of the memory of fallen heroes, for the sake of dignity and honor.
We have many symbols of this Great War. But these few seconds, when the Hero looks into the face of death and the barrels of the Russians deployed at him with the realization that he is right and, upon the demand to remove the chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, answers incredibly dignified and bold: “Glory to Ukraine!” – this is the force that defeated the “second army of the world”, this is the lesson that needs to be taught in schools and on the course of a young fighter, this is precisely the honor that makes up the will and future of Ukraine.
We will win because Russia does not have a single such fighter, because Ukraine is defended by many tens of thousands of such heroes. We will do everything so that all the circumstances of this story are established and the hero’s feat is rightly noted and immortalized. Now we will wait for official information, the investigation already has all the materials.
