The disputes are almost resolved, the Ukrainian boxer accepted the offer of the opponent, with a response ultimatum.
WBA President Gilberto Mendoza today confirmed agreements on holding an additional fight between the teams of the WBA (Super), WBO and IBF world heavyweight boxing champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and the WBC title holder Briton Tyson Fury. The fight for the undisputed world heavyweight title will take place on April 29, 2023 at Wembley Stadium in London.
It is reported that the boxing teams asked for time to finalize the contracts in order to finalize the deal.
Earlier, it was known that the teams of Usyk and Fury entered into a dispute over the size of the fees, which caused the postponement of the date of their meeting. At first, the parties agreed to hold the fight in March in Saudi Arabia, but due to lengthy disputes, the date of the fight was postponed to the end of April.
Fury’s team insisted on receiving most of the fee for the upcoming fight and demanded no more than 30% for Usyk’s team.
“We expected the fight to take place in Saudi Arabia in March. It did not take place, so it was postponed to April 29. Even if Usyk had not received anything for the fight at Wembley, this still would not have been enough for Tyson to cover his needs “This, in fact, is the point. Usually, when a fighter does not want a fight, he asks for something impossible. And then there will be no fight. These are the conclusions from my experience, and I have been in boxing for almost 20 years,” he commented on the situation on March 10 Usyk’s promoter Oleksandr Krasyuk.
Fury’s audacity and Usyk’s response
On March 10, the deadline for signing agreements between the boxers was coming to an end, when Briton Tyson Fury aggressively demanded from his opponent 70% of the fee for the fight, and also announced that from March 10 he would add one percent to himself for every day until the signing contract. Fury recorded a video message to Usyk’s team on his Instagram.
Usyk, you and your team are worth 30 percent – Fury
Despite the rather bold statement, Usyk accepted the proposal of the British boxer, putting forward a response ultimatum. Ukrainian champion on his official Twitter declaredthat he is ready to distribute the fee according to the 70% to 30% scheme in favor of Fury if he donates £1 million to Ukraine immediately after the fight, and also pays the Ukrainians 1% of his wallet for each day of delay.
Hey, Greedy Belly! I accept your offer, Usyk
“Hey, greedy belly. I accept your offer. But you promise to donate 1 million pounds to Ukraine immediately after the fight. And for each day of your delay, you will pay 1% of your wallet to the Ukrainians. Have you agreed?”, The Ukrainian sportsman replied.
