The protesters declared their readiness not to go home even if the security forces used special means against them.
On Tuesday, March 8, more than 15,000 people took to the streets of Tbilisi (Georgia) demanding that the law “On Foreign Agents” be withdrawn from parliament. This is reported by the Focus correspondent.
The action brought together students, athletes, guides and other residents of the Georgian capital. Protesters bring warm clothes, masks and eye drops with them.
“We don’t care anymore, let them let the gas go, we will stand,” the protesters say.
Cars with tinted windows are also visible on the streets, in which the security forces are supposedly driving.
Recall that the Georgian parliament approved in the first reading the scandalous bill on “foreign agents”, because of which citizens went to mass protests. During the meeting of the parliament, the deputies in an accelerated mode approved the draft law “On the transparency of foreign influence.” 76 deputies voted in favor, and 13 voted against. This document was submitted by the Power of the People movement and supported by members of the ruling Georgian Places party.
Focus also wrote that the opposition announced new large-scale protests in Georgia. According to the ex-leader of the United National Movement, Nika Melia, all of Georgia will gather on Rustaveli Square until it achieves victory.
