According to journalists, it was on the basis of analysts’ assessments that Beijing proposed its peaceful plan to end the war.
Chinese military experts from the Academy of Military Sciences in Beijing have concluded that Russia’s war against Ukraine will end in the summer of 2023. The Nikkei writes about it.
It is reported that the think-tank reports directly to the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China. The institution cannot be found on the map, but journalists write that it is located in Beijing’s Haidian district, where the ruins of the Yuanmingyuan Palace are located. Provides regular advice and reports to the Central Military Committee of the Communist Party, the highest decision-making body for the Chinese armed forces.
The publication writes that back in December, Chinese analysts completed a simulation of a war in Ukraine. The study indicated that the war would come to an end around the summer of 2023. Moreover, Russia will prevail over Ukraine.
The researchers also concluded that the Russian and Ukrainian economies would be too exhausted to continue the war after the summer.
“It is possible that the results were skewed in favor of Russia to please the leadership of China, leaning towards Moscow. But coincidentally, the $ 45 billion aid package adopted in December last year in the United States expires this summer as well,” noted journalists.
At the same time, it is reportedly unknown what will happen with the help of Ukraine from the United States next, since some Republicans in the House of Representatives are skeptical about this.
The publication writes that it was on the basis of the forecast of the Academy of Military Sciences that Beijing prepared a peace proposal for the anniversary of the war. The plan aims to achieve three goals, including the restoration of relations with Europe. In addition, Beijing wants to maintain friendly relations with Ukraine.
“The ultimate desired goal is for China to play a leading role in securing a ceasefire,” the journalists said.
However, many analysts are reportedly confident that the war could actually go on for a long time, since Ukraine is not going to make concessions to the Russian Federation. If Beijing fails to become a mediator in the negotiations, this will undermine the authority of Xi Jinping.
Recall that China has submitted proposals to end the war in Ukraine. The program proposed by Beijing consists of 12 points. Among them, the cessation of hostilities, the lifting of sanctions, peace negotiations.
Then the United States reacted to China’s plan to end the war in Ukraine. According to the President of the United States, there are no points in the plan proposed by China that could be beneficial to someone other than Russia.
“If Putin applauds this, then what good is he? I’m not joking, I’m dead serious,” Joe Biden said.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry said that China could force Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine. The head of diplomacy, Melanie Joly, noted that everything that happens on the battlefield will subsequently affect the negotiating table, so helping Ukraine will help put it in a stronger position.
