The technology of replacing the internal combustion engine (ICE) in cars with an electric motor is planned to be implemented by the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant. According to the founder and main owner of the holding, Vladimir Shcherbakov, used cars from the Kaliningrad region’s car fleet will undergo remotorization.

We proposed to the government – and it supports us – to make 150,000 electric motors of various sizes and control systems for them for the entire industry. This is twice as much as the concept of the automotive industry provides. Of course, there won’t be such a need for new electric vehicles yet, so we will produce electrical kits to replace the old internal combustion engine together with the gearbox with a new electric one for cars that are already in operation,” Shcherbakov explained the essence of the pilot project.
The cost of replacing an internal combustion engine with an electric motor in the mass production of such electrical kits should not exceed a thousand euros.
