Chery’s subsidiary Jetour introduced the Traveler crossover with a brutal design in the style of Land Rover Defender or Ford Bronco SUVs. In terms of size and format, it is a competitor to Haval Dargo.
In the near future, the Jetour brand should appear in Russia, which means that Traveler may become available on the Russian market.

Initially, Traveler was conceived as a frame car with an off-road transmission aimed at conquering severe off-road conditions. But the design of the production version turned out to be different, the new Jetour Traveler turned out to be a classic crossover with a monocoque body and a transverse engine, as well as all-wheel drive with a clutch on the rear axle.
However, for the novelty, a differential lock and off-road modes may be available, like the recently introduced modification of the Haval Dargo X.
Orders for the Jetour Traveler 2023 crossover in China will begin to be accepted in April, prices have already been announced: from 21,800 to 30,100 dollars.

Review
In 2021, the Chinese brand Jetour changed the concept. For her audience, which consists mainly of young and not very well-to-do car enthusiasts, she decided to start developing SUVs that could be used for travel, including cross-country.
The manufacturer confirmed the seriousness of its intentions with the release in 2022 of the Jetour TX concept model, which turned out to be a frame all-terrain vehicle of the Land Rover Defender or Ford Bronco format.
Surprisingly, the production version of this car, called the Traveller, turned out to be not so “off-road”. First of all, it turned out that the car ceased to be a frame and received a load-bearing body, and its multi-link suspension is similar to that used on any medium-sized SUV.
Four-wheel drive is implemented here through a Borg Warner clutch, and as an addition, a rear differential lock and a choice of several driving electronics settings are offered.
External design
On the exterior, the 2023 Jetour Traveler has also been simplified. Classic door handles appeared, and the spare wheel trunk turned into a luggage box. However, the overall style has been preserved, and the form factor itself with short overhangs is able to give this car some advantage on off-road.
In addition, outwardly, the crossover will definitely look like an adventure SUV, since a large selection of accessories has been prepared for it: additional lighting equipment mounted on the roof, trunks for roof rails, and more. etc. In the future, the manufacturer is going to offer an extended seven-seater version of the Jetour Traveler, where the third row of passenger seats will be installed.

Salon Traveler cannot be called utilitarian. The decoration uses matte plastics and soft pseudo-leather, a large “TV” is located on the front panel, and a full-fledged digital “tidy” is at the helm.
Another hint that Treveller will only pretend to be a “rogue” is the presence of purely “parquet” options: adaptive cruise control and a cabin camera, which is designed to monitor the driver’s condition in order to prevent him from falling asleep during monotonous traffic on autobahn.
Technical stuffing and characteristics
The status of the crossover is also confirmed by the characteristics of the base engine. In the most affordable configuration, the Jetour Treveller 2023 will have a 1.5-liter 1.5 turbo engine and a “robot”.
A more serious and powerful version will receive a 2.0-liter turbo four and an “automatic”. In the future, the range will expand due to the hybrid version, but so far the engine power has not been disclosed, although it is clear that all the “equipment” for this model will be taken from cars manufactured under the patronage of Chery.
Prices and start of sales
Chinese dealers were quick to announce the price list, although the cars themselves will be on sale closer to the fall (orders will begin in April 2023).
The price fork is from $21,800 to $30,100. Around the time of the start of sales, an extended seven-seater version of the car is also planned. And for those who were still waiting for a frame SUV, the manufacturer promised to introduce it in the near future. Moreover, even in the form of a real pickup truck.
