Unlike oil, which was used during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, ambergris extracted from the body of a sperm whale was not used to prepare the sacred oil for the chrismation of her eldest son.
In Jerusalem, they consecrated the oil that is used during the coronation of the British monarch Charles III in May. It is reported by CNN.
Oil (a specially prepared and consecrated aromatic oil that Christians use in rituals – ed.) was created from olives collected in groves on the Mount of Olives and on the slopes of the ridge east of the Old City.
Thus the olives from the Monastery of Mary Magdalene and the Monastery of the Ascension were pressed near Bethlehem, where, as Christians believe, Jesus was born.
And the consecration ceremony took place on Friday, March 3 at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. The Sacrament was conducted by the Patriarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church Theophilos III and the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, His Eminence Hosam Nahum.

Charles III’s coronation oil is based on the centuries-old formula used when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was anointed in 1953, but with some important differences.
The late queen’s coronation oil included a mixture of oils of orange, rose, cinnamon, musk, and amber, a substance extracted from the intestines of the sperm whale. And the sacred blend for King Charles III is made from oils of sesame, rose, jasmine, cinnamon, neroli, benzoin, amber and orange blossom – without any animal ingredients.
It is known that this oil will also be used to anoint Camilla, the wife of the British monarch and queen consort.

Earlier we wrote about what Queen Consort Camilla will choose for her coronation: a diamond tiara or a 200-year-old crown. She was previously slated to use the Queen Mother’s crown, but it’s adorned with the controversial Kohinoor diamond, which means Camilla will have to choose a different crown.
Focus also informed its readers that the details of the coronation of Charles III were announced at Buckingham Palace. The coronation will take place on May 6, 2023, it will be luxurious, but not as luxurious as the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.
