The commander of the Special Operations Forces, brigade commander Viktor Khorenko, arrived in Bakhmut to check the work of subordinate units that defend the city and are involved in combat work in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. This was reported in the press service of the MTR command on March 4.
Khorenko noted that all SOF units that defend Bakhmut clearly fulfill their assigned tasks.
“Our soldiers are constantly working in extremely difficult conditions and are doing everything to reduce the number of enemy forces daily,” he said.
During the trip, the commander got acquainted with the situation at the front and worked out a number of pressing issues on the spot to ensure and organize the work of SOF units.
According to him, in the current conditions, communication and interaction of all links that relate to the structures of the SOF play an important role. A quick and coordinated response to requests and needs of units gives the best result on the battlefield, Viktor Khorenko said.
Recall, on March 4, British intelligence reported that the Ukrainian military command deployed elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold Bakhmut. According to the agency, the invaders have moved into the northern suburbs of the city and are attacking the positions of the Ukrainian army from three sides.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War believe that the Ukrainian army creates conditions for a controlled withdrawal of troops from Bakhmut. In their opinion, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fortified the area to the west of the city so that even if they retreat from their positions, this will not lead to a quick capture of the entire settlement by the occupiers.
