According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the modernization of the energy system is already in full swing in Ukraine, which in the foreseeable future, despite the hostilities, will only gain momentum.
Ukraine withstood the energy terror of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the most difficult period for the critical infrastructure of our country is behind us. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal stated this during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, February 28.
“We can confidently say that we have passed the most difficult period. We withstood the Russian energy terror and provided heat in the homes of Ukrainians,” the head of the Ukrainian government said.
Shmyhal also recalled that a month and a half remained before the end of the heating season in Ukraine.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers added that Ukraine also managed to win the “battle for light” from Russia.
“For 17 days in a row, there has been no shortage of power in the energy network and it is not predicted in the near future in the absence of massive attacks by the Russian Federation,” Shmygal said.
In this regard, he thanked the power engineers and representatives of other professions working to provide the critical infrastructure of Ukraine. In addition, Shmygal expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian air defense forces and international partners who supported Ukraine in every possible way materially and technically during the massive attacks of the Russian Armed Forces.
“We will not only restore what has been lost, but also modernize, decentralize and secure our energy system,” Shmygal concluded.
Recall that on February 28, DTEK spoke about the successes of power engineers during the year of the big war with the Russian Federation. During this time, the company’s employees have repaired more than 4,000 power facilities and resumed power supply to more than 7 million subscribers.
Focus also wrote that in the fall of 2022, the Russian Federation carried out 15 massive missile attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, and another 17 attacks were carried out using kamikaze drones. As of December last year, according to the Ukrainian government, about 50% of the energy system was damaged or destroyed. Russian missiles hit all thermal power plants and most hydroelectric power plants.
