Expert opinion
Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem:
– Muscovites have a real localization program – this was confirmed to me by the director of the plant, Dmitry Pronin. Details have not yet been disclosed, but I can safely assume that closer to the end of the year, the plant can master welding and body painting. At first, using imported body panels.
In parallel, stamps will be ordered – it will take at least a year to make them. And if there are stamps, all body panels will be stamped at the AAT plant in the Moscow district of Biryulyovo – all panels for Duster, Kaptur and Arkana were also made there. And they are now working for the Russian Haval plant.
There is a program for plastics, interior details, tires, operating fluids and so on.
What awaits other Russian car factories in the near future, find out here.
