The largest and most expensive model of the Chery brand is presented – the Tiggo 9 crossover. In size (length – 4820 mm), the novelty is comparable to the Hyundai Santa Fe or Geely Monjaro.
The flagship Chery Tiggo 9 is built on the same platform as the new Exeed Yaoguang. The crossover has so far been presented in only one modification with a two-liter turbo engine (254 hp and 390 Hm) and a seven-speed “robot”, with front or all-wheel drive. Hybrid versions are expected later.
In China, the novelty will appear in May 2023, and in Russia it will most likely also begin to be sold, but the timing is still unknown.

The Tiggo family of crossovers has found a new flagship – from now on, the “nine” becomes the largest and most expensive representative of the line. Tiggo 9 removes from the position of the former leader – Tiggo 8 Pro Max, and to confirm the appropriate status, the model initially receives decent equipment and even a second-level autopilot.
The Chinese were in a hurry to present their new product, which can be judged by some “flaws”. For example, they did not have time to show a version with three rows of seats, which is mandatory for cars of this class and such dimensions (4820x1930x1699 mm.)
The second significant point is the lack of information on hybrid transmissions and the presence of only one unit in the engine range. However, for each of these points you can find your own “answer”.
Judging by the slope of the rear pillars and the sloping roofline, the Tiggo 9 is clearly not going to give the passengers of the “gallery” the comfort they need. As for the engines, the model still has to observe a more obvious subordination in relation to its more prestigious “twin” – the Exeed Yaoguang crossover.
External design
The 2023 Chery Tiggo 9 has certain family traits, which can make it look like a slightly redesigned Tiggo 8 Pro Max.
In fact, individual details decide everything: retractable door handles, a two-tone body color, modified stampings on the sidewalls, headlights with a different “stuffing”. For a surcharge, the car will be equipped with expensive matrix optics and original 20-inch wheels, a “panorama” will appear in the roof, and more expensive materials inside.
Salon
The most prestigious member of the Tiggo family will not disappoint those who want to touch the luxury. Moreover, in the interior of this “Chinese” many will see similarities with Mercedes.
These are the seat adjustment buttons on the door cards, and the location of the ventilation deflectors, and a pair of large displays on the front console. Plus, there is expensive genuine leather upholstery, a steering wheel with touch buttons and a dual-zone “climate” controlled through the head unit display menu. In addition, in the list of options you can find a premium Sony audio system and a projection screen.
Technical stuffing and characteristics
Chery Tiggo 9 is planned to be equipped with hybrid powertrains, but for now the model will only be available with a 2.0-liter TGDI turbo unit with 254 hp. With. (390 Nm). The same engine, but more powerful (261 hp), is also installed on the Exeed Yaoguang, while the “gearboxes” of the models are the same – seven-speed robotic with two clutches. It is noteworthy that a single platform allows you to equip the “nine” with an adaptive suspension, but only Exeed gets it as a more prestigious car.
Prices and start of sales in Russia
Prices for Chery Tiggo 9 2023, which will go on sale in May, have not yet been announced, but you can navigate by the price of the Yaoguang model, which will be slightly higher. Now for such an Exeed in China they are asking for about $22-29 thousand, while for the “top” Tiggo 8 in the maximum configuration you will have to pay at least $25 thousand.
