Anthony was the eldest of the pop diva’s seven siblings. The man grew up in Detroit, suffered from alcoholism and did not accept help from his famous sister.
Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s older brother, has died homeless and in poverty at the age of 66. The singer was not close to him, but repeatedly offered help, which he refused. The Daily Mail writes about it.
Anthony’s death was reported by Joe Henry, Madonna’s brother-in-law, who is married to her sister, Melanie Ciccone.
“My son-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, left us last night. I knew him from the age of 15. Anthony was a complex character. But I loved him and understood him better than I sometimes wanted to show,” Joe wrote.
Anthony, like his famous sister, grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. Early addicted to drugs, in the 1980s, he, like Madonna, lived in New York.

Carolina Jango, 59, who dated him at the time, described him in a positive light. “He was a lost soul trying to find his way, but he was a good person. He loved to read, and he didn’t like being called “Madonna’s brother,” the woman said that one day on Anthony’s birthday, Madonna’s assistant called him and asked how much money he wants as a gift, Anthony was outraged and refused.
After that, he became homeless, suffered from alcoholism, and worked odd jobs. In a 2011 interview, he said that his family turned their backs on him.
Madonna knew about her brother’s plight and repeatedly offered help, also saying that she would pay for his treatment in a rehabilitation clinic, but Anthony refused.

“My family turned away from me when I was having a hard time. Do you think I haven’t answered this question a hundred times – why is my sister a multimillionaire, and I’m homeless and live on the street? Never say never. It can happen to anyone,” he told a journalist and admitted that he was angry when some people find it funny that the brother of such a famous star ends up living under a bridge. But he continued to refuse her help, preferring to dine in charity canteens.
Ciccone, who claimed to have once worked as a fisherman in Alaska, a photographer’s assistant in New York and a handyman in his father and stepmother’s vineyard, complained that he worked for a couple of dollars collecting cans from trash cans. However, after treatment in 2017, his affairs went smoothly.

Recall that Madonna’s childhood was difficult. Her mother died of cancer at age 30 while pregnant for the sixth time. A religious father forbade his daughter to perform on stage, and their relationship finally went wrong when he remarried a housekeeper. In total, Madonna has seven brothers and sisters. Another half-brother died in infancy. One of the brothers, Christopher, wrote a book about his famous sister, Life with My Sister Madonna. It was published in 2008 against her will. And, as the singer herself said, “damaged her reputation.”
And the older brothers: Martin and Anthony, according to the memoirs of Madonna, bullied her all her childhood, started drinking and taking drugs early.
We will remind, recently Madonna was dumped by her boyfriend Andrew Darnell. Relations 64-year-old pop diva and 23-year-old Andrew lasted about five months.
