Hyundai has notified shareholders that it will sell a controlling stake in an auto components plant that was found to use child labor in 2022. The plant is located in the US state of Alabama.
Last year, Reuters published an investigation that spoke of the work of children (including 12-year-olds) at Hyundai supplier enterprises. Checks began that confirmed violations, and one of the enterprises turned out to be a plant, 72% of whose shares are owned by Hyundai itself.
