Launched in 2010, the Juke was one of the pioneers in the small-size SUV segment. 12 years later, the second generation is however struggling to sell in quantity. For good reason: only the small 1.0 DIG-T (114 hp) held the reins of the current range. Nissan will rectify this by this summer with a hybrid version.
More power, less consumption
As announced two years ago, the Juke takes over the simple hybrid engine of the Renault Captur and Clio E-Tech. The naturally aspirated 94 hp 4-cylinder 1.6 is associated with a 49 hp electric motor and an alternator-starter. Everything is powered by a small 1.2 kWh battery. The original robotic claw gearbox, without clutch, is also retained. It has four gears for the heat engine and two for the electric.
This Juke Hybrid thus systematically starts in electric mode and can reach 55 km/h without drinking a drop of gasoline. Enough to lower the announced consumption to 5.2 l/100 km and CO emissions2 at 118 g/km. Regenerative braking can be adjusted to your liking. The “e-Pedal” system, inspired by the 100% electric Leaf, is part of the standard equipment. It allows you to greatly reduce the use of the brake pedal.
Slight facelift for the Hybrid version
From the outside, difficult to tell the difference with the petrol engine. The Hybrid version receives specific badges as well as a grille slightly narrowed by a black band connecting the two headlights. The rear spoiler has also been lengthened to improve the aerodynamics of the urban SUV. Finally, 17” rims will be offered as standard. As an option or on top-of-the-range finishes, they can be replaced by 19” wheels whose design reduces fuel consumption.
The cabin hardly changes, except for the arrival of a display specific to the electrified model. But the battery penalizes the trunk volume: cargo capacity increases from 422 to 354 litres. A reduction similar to that found on a Captur E-Tech, the latter still offering 440 liters in its hybrid version… The Nissan Juke Hybrid should arrive in the summer. Its base price should exceed €30,000.
