The Lada Niva continues to make headlines. Not necessarily here, but in Russia, where he continues his endless career, he is one of the pillars of Lada’s strategy for 2022. During a press conference on the results for 2021 and the outlook for 2022, the Lada management presented a completely new version of the famous off-roader that promises to sell well. And our colleagues from Motor1 Russia photographed and saw it live.
It’s the Niva Travel Black, and enthusiasts may know that spy photos of this special version have been circulating in recent months. It is now ready for its official debut and will go on sale in February.
Dark suit and elegant interior
The features of the Niva Travel Black – which can be chosen in any color on the outside – are: 16-inch gloss black rims, unpainted arches, matching number plates and a specific interior.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in diamond-patterned fabric and the backrests are decorated with black lettering. Curious: the car on display (the one you see in the photos) is not equipped with a passenger airbag.
A growing family
The Black Edition family already exists in Russia and includes the Vesta Cross, XRAY and Niva Legend models. The Niva Travel expands the family and will be offered in five trim levels.
The Niva Travel is offered in five equipment variants, the cheapest starting at 879,900 rubles (about 10,300 euros according to the current exchange rate). The engine is a four-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.7 liters and a power of 83 hp.
