In 2022, Renault is redefining the contours of its range with the Mégane E-Tech, a 100% electric crossover straddling the B and C segments, while the Renault Austral SUV will focus on winning back customers disappointed by the Kadjar. In 2023, the manufacturer at the Losange will launch the new Scénic (HCB), big brother of the Mégane, as well as the 7-seater version of the Austral (RHN). The following year, the “product plan” foresees a new vehicle in the compact segment. It will be a cut version of the Captur which will go through the restyling box in 2023. Double blow for the Captur Coupé!
Known internally under the code DJB which can be deciphered as follows: D meaning Coupé, J referring to the CMF / B platform and B indicating its membership in the Captur family, it will benefit from a format of approximately 4.40 m long. This is ideal for positioning yourself at the heart of segment C, the most contested among SUVs.
“The Renault Captur Coupé will do double duty since it will be intended to replace both the Renault Mégane IV thermal (4.30 m) and the Renault Arkana (4.57 m).“
As a reminder, the second version of the Renault Captur (internal code XJB) appeared in 2019 is 4.23 m long. The Renault Captur Coupé will also have a strong link with the latter, it will appear at the time of its restyling and should logically cultivate a certain aesthetic connection with the Captur 2 phase 2. This vehicle will also carry the new Renault brand created by Gilles Vidal, new design boss since autumn 2020 from Peugeot.

The little brother of the Austral Coupé!
In the range, the Renault Captur Coupé will also be the little brother of the future Austral Coupé (DHN) expected, too, by 2024. The arrival of the latter forces the manufacturer to reposition the replacement for the Arkana between the Captur and the Austral coupé (surname unknown at this time). With its multiple Coupé SUVs, Renault is following in the footsteps of premium brands which have become specialists in the genre. Audi Q3 Sportback, Q5 Sportback, BMW X2, X4 and X6, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Coupé and GLE Coupé testify to this. The diamond firm will not be the only one since the future Peugeot 3008 will look like a coupe at the end of 2023.

An abandoned Clio 5 “backpacker”?
According to our information, when the diamond manufacturer started the development of the Clio 5 and Captur 2, there was a third project in the pipeline. The one called HJA defining a Clio in crossover mode. In other words, a versatile sedan a little higher on the leg. This Clio des champs could have been the alter ego of a Volkswagen Polo Cross or, to a lesser extent, of an Audi A1 City Carver.
