Mercedes, with its new 100% electric range, is the first German manufacturer to draw its “clean” van. What if it had all the necessary qualities to go on a trip?
Mercedes is certainly the most advanced generalist in the electric market. After an avalanche of new products, including the EQT Concept at Munich fair, one would almost forget the “clean” utility of the brand dedicated to the star. TheEQV 300, available since last winter, offers good performance (range, space on board) but is displayed at prices well above average.
Without competition?
If there are eVito and eSprinter rather dedicated to professionals, the EQV is the first utility / van to receive the letters EQ. It is directly noticed by its front face with the grille Black Panel. For the rest of the exterior, it is difficult to differentiate it from its thermal counterpart Class V. It also stands out from the rest of the Mercedes range by its interest, rather reserved for the transport of people. The Citroën e-Spacetourer, Peugeot e-Traveler and Opel Zafira-e Life are its main targets.

To meet all needs, Mercedes offers two versions of its van. A “short” of 5,14 m long and another from 5,34 m for a supplement of a small thousand euros. The EQV can thus carry up to eight passengers and allow up to 686 kg payload. This value could even go beyond, but you must respect the total 3,500 kg authorized by your B license.
A luxury product
Inside, it’s not the “wow” effect but everything is assembled with rigor. Finishing Avantgarde, offered to 74 000 €, still offers a few more features such as heated seats and an infotainment system with 10.25 ″ screen. It is especially in terms of technology that the Mercedes van hits hard. Panel detector, active assisted emergency braking, cruise control / speed limiter, new generation voice control… The latter is also coupled with navigation. This takes into account the weather forecast, the state of the battery and information on the charging infrastructure. You can quickly calculate your route without being afraid of the battery.
The EQV 300 is powered by an electric unit developing 204 hp and 362 Nm maximum (136 hp in comfort mode). As on all electric utilities, we find a large battery, 90 kWh useful here. According to the Stuttgart firm, the van could travel more than 350 km with a full charge. So count on 50 km less in real conditions. And unlike the French, it can exceed 130 km / h without problem to cover great distances, especially in Germany.
Regarding recharging, nothing new. It embeds a OBL charger with a power of 11 kW. On a 110 kW fast charging station, the EQV thus “refills” by 45 minutes to go from 10 to 80% energy. A braking regeneration system is also part of the game and can be adjusted using the paddles behind the steering wheel.
